![]() It gave me a newfound appreciation of a game I already had increasingly grown to appreciate the more time went on. It was those places that I began cataloguing when I took notice of them. What I found were details and stories from all the places the game recreates in the reimagined city. I have made an effort to stop and smell the roses, so to speak. I now have gone back through the game and actively stopped myself from going too fast. The buildings and places themselves told a story. It went beyond just the notes you pick up that tell the stories of those who had tried, and failed, to survive. Having experienced more than a year of isolation and loneliness, wandering through the wreckage of the old world of Seattle proved to be a more impactful experience than I could have expected. However, what it does do is offer some indication about how we all could maybe one day recover from a world-altering event. The way the people have adapted and made a new life for themselves in any way they could is not what one could call hopeful. It is a bleak portrait of humanity and yet, there are pockets of salvation to be found amidst the shadow of the city that once was. ![]() Highways have begun to fall apart, buildings have collapsed, and the remaining survivors have been left to fend for themselves however they can. The years of conflict stemming from the collapse of society as we know it have inexorably altered the city’s landscape. By the time of the events of the game, they have done just that, though they now face threats from a primitivist cult known as the Seraphites who control the area surrounding the city proper. However, the people of the city began to grow unhappy with their overseers and proceeded to form the Washington Liberation Front (W.L.F.) in order to regain control. When an initial infection began to take hold, the city became a Quarantine Zone run by the Federal Disaster Response Agency (F.E.D.R.A.) and the military. Spoilers AheadFor those unfamiliar, The Last of Us: Part II takes place primarily in Seattle over several days seen from the perspectives of two opposing characters: Ellie and Abby. It was only later, after almost a year of not being able to see the familiar landmarks and streets I enjoyed wandering, that I found an unshakeable urge to revisit the game. I hadn’t been to the city in-person for almost the whole time despite living nearby I had been locking down and just taking it day by day. I was enthralled with the game and its story, only wanting to keep progressing forward.Īt the time, which was a year ago this week, it had only been several months into the pandemic. I found myself sprinting through the Seattle neighborhoods and settings without a care in the world about the detail that went into every single part of capturing the city. 10.When it was released, I played through The Last of Us: Part II faster than I have any other game of such scope. Head through the door to find the Rabbi’s office and some supplements first though. Once you’re done you can use the trolley to reach the platform leading up to the higher level where you’ll find a cable you can use to swing to other balcony and an exit. You’ll then need to go through the gap in the fence on the closed off side, where you’ll be able to push a trolley to the far side and use it to get over the fence and at the gas. There are some resources to grab from the open shelves and the tables through the doors. Deal with them and you’ll be able to use the scaffolding to get inside the building. Look for a log pile that will let you climb into a new area, this time with clickers and runners to take out. Head through into an area full of tall grass and a couple of runners for you and Dina to deal with. Once you have that, drop back down and head around to the left until you see a blue tarp covered gate in a leafy area. The sign is right by a gate and a watch tower, head through and immediately turn right to climb the tower where you’ll find a Stun Bomb and unlock it as a crafting recipe. ![]() ![]() You’ll know you’ve found Fuel Distribution because of the big red sign that says ‘Fuel Distribution’ and the bit where Ellie says ‘fuel distribution’. Look for a building surrounded by high barbed wire fences. ![]()
